Signage Frenzy

More signage news from around the world from Hants and Dorset Signs as a a signage error at a Marathon gas station in Avondale, Ohio, created a short-lived buying frenzy among consumers. Unbeknownst to its employees, the signage at the station promoted 27-cents a gallon gasoline last week. Word spread quickly among consumers, and the pricing error continued for two-and-a-half hours. One customer drove from Erlanger, Kentucky, 175 miles away, to take advantage of the savings.

Consumers using credit cards made out with the savings windfall. But as customers began paying with cash, the station's employees eventually discovered their error. The signage error occurred during a change in pump prices. The station refused comment on how much money the mistake cost its store operators.
