New Sign-Posting To Spark Regeneration

More signage news from in and around the UK from Hants and Dorset Signs as NEW sign posting is one of the first requirements for Port St Mary's Isle Of Man regeneration, a working party has decided. The Port St Mary Regeneration Working Party, comprising local traders Tim Croft (Island Seafare), Michelle Haywood (Discover Diving) and Laurence Skelly (Manx Inspirations and Destination Isle of Man) and commissioners Rebecca Sinfield, Bernadette McCauley and Martin Kennaugh, was formed to investigate ideas to put forward to claim some of the government's £8m regeneration fund.

'We are looking at sign posting. If you start at the Four Roads and come to Port St Mary, what is there?' said commissioners' chairman Alec Merchant.

'Where are the car parks? Where is the information about what is around the port?.There should be signage throughout the village, not a rash of new sign posts, but judiciously placed information, with points of interest and where they should obtain food. They are ideas to draw people through village, if there are some areas where there are explanatory boards it will all be done in a tasteful way".
