Revised Signage Guidelines

More signage news from in and around the the world from Hants and Dorset Signs as in Matawan, New Jersey — The Borough Council is revising signage ordinances to enhance the ambiance of the downtown. Councilman Tom Fitzsimmons said at a meeting, that creating a uniform look for downtown Matawan could attract new businesses.

He went on to say "We want all the signs in town to look somewhat similar," he said. "What we are trying to do is brand this area as a historical, quaint little town. Once you've done that, you've created the environment for people to come here and open a business, like a coffee shop or antique shop. We can give the downtown a uniform look and give business owners guidelines."

The borough wants to encourage signs that identify activities, describe local history and character, or serve other educational purposes, according to the draft.
