More signage news from in and around the UK from Hants and Dorset Signs as Transport for London’s Legible London signage scheme, designed by Applied Information Group, is rolling out to three new areas of the capital, including its first installation in an outer London borough.

The scheme, which was launched in November 2007, is currently being installed in Richmond and Twickenham town centres, the South Bank and Bankside, and Bloomsbury, Covent Garden and Holborn.

The three sites were named as trial sites for the scheme by Transport for London in November 2008. AIG was appointed as designer for the Bloomsbury, Covent Garden and Holborn site, Atkins for South Bank and Bankside, and Faber Maunsell for Richmond and Twickenham.

Kulveer Ranger, the Mayor of London’s transport adviser, says, ‘With its clear, distinctive design, the Legible London scheme aims to equip pedestrians with all the information they need to get from A to B quickly and easily. It also helps to improve the public realm as where Legible London is installed, confusing old signage is removed.’
