Signage Clamp Down

More signage news from around the world from Hants and Dorset Signs as in Holliston, Massachusetts a decision by town officials to begin enforcing sign bylaws has some small business owners in town worried that their ability to reach out to potential customers will be impaired.

Last week, Town Planner Karen Sherman and Building Inspector Peter Tartakoff canvassed the town, handing out memos to businesses reminding them of bylaws prohibiting sandwich board signs on sidewalks and mandating the types and sizes of signs that can be displayed in windows.

Some business owners said they were disappointed in the move by the town, and that cheap advertising, especially in the form of clearly visible sandwich boards, is especially important in the current economic climate.
